Announcements Calendar Clue Winner!Zac Siadek is this week's winner of Calendar Clue in the Jr. High Library. The answer was Cherokee. Congratulations, Zac! Your prize is in the library.
Read for a LifetimeThe High School Library is once again participating in the Read for a Lifetime Program sponsored by The Secretary of State and State Librarian, Jesse White. A student signs up in the library and reads four books from the assigned list by April `10th and in May they receive a signed Certificate of Achievement from The Secretary of State and State Librarian, Jesse White. Last year we had 5 students complete the program with many more signed up this year. Good luck to all those that are participating this year. Reading ChallengeEach year students in grades 4-8 have the opportunity to be involved in selecting the Rebecca Caudill Young Author's Book Award along with other students throughout Illinois. By mid-February students must read 3 of the 20 nominated titles to be eligible to vote on their favorite book. The votes from our school are sent in and after all votes are tallied the Book Award is announced. The Award is special in that students select this book, not librarians or a committee of professionals. An extra challenge has been presented at FCJHS. If students choose to read all of the nominated books by mid-February, then they are invited to either a pizza or ice cream party.
Links The Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award is an annual award given to the author of the book voted most outstanding by students in grades four through eight in participating Illinois schools. In October 2009, the ISLMA Board approved a new award for students grades 3-5. The attached links are nominees of this award. The ISLMA Board created The Monarch Award: Illinois' K-3 Readers' Choice Award. See some of the nominated books in the attached links.
